Lydia Forson explains who a celebrity is

Actress, Lydia Forson has brought an end to who a celebrity is.

Last week, there were discussions online about who a celebrity is because some Ghanaian slay queens were “snubbed” by Cardi B during her visit to Ghana.

Some people including Michael Essien and Asamoah Gyan shared their opinions on who a celebrity is.

Actress Lydia Forson seems to have brought some finality to the discussion as she has provided a definition for the word celebrity.

To her “By definition “auntie muni” is a celebrity…She’s famous for her waakye…And you not knowing or liking her won’t change the fact that people do and stand in long queues to patronize it”.

Rapper TI and wife make emotional visit to Cape Coast castle

American rapper TI and his wife recently made an emotional visit to Ghana’s Cape Coast Castle in the Central Region of Ghana.

The ‘Live Your Life’ rapper, who is in Ghana for the Year of Return, visited the slavery monument to learn more about the history of slavery.

In a video circulating online, T.I and his wife, Tiny, were paying rapt attention to their tour guide who was highlighting to the couple how the Africans lost their power to rule their territories and what initiated slavery.

In one photo taken of the couple, they seemed shocked by the things they had seen and heard during the tour of the castle.

About Year of Return

It has been exactly 400 years since the first black slaves landed in Jamestown Virginia in the US.

Ghana initiated the Year of Return to invite all diasporans back home to not only learn more but explore and even invest in the country.

Since this initiative began many African Americans have made their way into the country to learn more about their history. Some include Steve Harvey, Samuel L Jackson, Anthony Anderson, Micheal Jai White, Boris Kodjoe, Nicole Ari Parker, Diggy Simmons and many others.

The Tourism Ministry outlined numerous activities including the ‘December in Ghana’ events to bring the Year of Return to a fruitful end.

The programme includes the premiere of Perfect Picture 2, Sankofa Music Festival, Afro Nation, Afrochella, Gold Coast Experience, The Creative Arts show, Ghana Festival of Light and many others.

Investors running away because artistes snatch their girlfriends – Article Wan

Musician Article Wan has observed that several investors have resolved to not plough money into the music industry mainly because of numerous unfair treatments meted out to them.

He claimed in an interview that some artistes extend their promiscuous lives to the girlfriends of these investors as they snatch them away. “We’ve got investors but sometimes, artistes treat them some way so they don’t feel like investing again,” he told MzGee. “Sometimes, people disrespect them, people are not faithful to them… There are instances the artistes snatch the girlfriends of these investors. That actually gets them crazy. How can you snatch the taste of your boss?” Although he acknowledges how painful it is for investors to be betrayed in that manner, Article Wan who wishes for huge investments in talents said: “Investors shouldn’t look at what other artistes have done to them and say they will not invest in other good artistes. It’s killing the industry.” Conversations about the ungratefulness of some Ghanaian musicians have been held on countless occasions as some managers expressed their unwillingness to ‘gamble’ with their resources.

Few months ago, Rapper EL, for instance, said the ungratefulness of some new artistes sometimes makes him refuse to sign them on. “Very few of them are grateful when you lift them up there. The majority forget that you have ever done something for them when they make it. Can you imagine an artiste putting his career on hold and helping another artiste only for that person to be ungrateful in future,” he quizzed.

Claim that Wendy Shay and Bullet tortured me was true – Fantana

Songstress, Fantana says her rants about Wendy Shay and Bullet were very real.

Fantana some months ago in a post on Instagram mentioned that Bullet and Wendy Shay had ill-treated her and that she was fed up with the treatment meted out to her by the two.

The singer said Bullet and Wendy Shay had tortured her throughout her stay with the Record Label.

“Dear Wendy & Bullet, You guys started this and I will simply end it. It’s so funny how you feel the need to publicly humiliate me making it seem like you KUT ME from the label when the whole time I’m the one who has been wanting to leave! You know my number, and my house,” she said.

This was after Bullet had posted “Something big is coming!watch this space.its about time to KUT IT. THE TRUE RUFFTOWNFAMILY @rayjamesmuzik @churchboy_gh @wendyshayofficial KUT IT KUT IT KUT IT KUT IT KUT IT KUT IT…”.

But reacting to Fantana, Bullet mentioned that the artiste misunderstood his post on Instagram and that it was a project they were working on and since he was working directly with her management, Fantana wasn’t aware of the move.

Fantana in an interview with Accra-based Hitz FM said the claims in her post were true, however, she will not want to comment on it because it is a thing of the past.

She mentioned that after she put the controversial post, she put her phone on do not disturb and went to sleep.

My emotional songs sell better – Kuami Eugene

Highlife singer Kuami Eugene says his songs receive much airplay when emotions are attached.

According to him, he loves to compose songs when he is going through an emotional dilemma because it puts him in the “right” state to record.

“Songs I attach emotions to have longer longevity than others; songs like Wish Me Well, Angela and Obia To. They last longer though I can’t always put myself into such state to make music. It should happen naturally,” he disclosed.

Speaking in an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Kuami said some of his songs stem out of criticisms on his social media page.

I’ll look stupid if I diss Shatta Wale – Prince Bright of Buk Bak

Musician Prince Bright has refuted claims ‘Oofeetso’ is a diss song targeted at dancehall artiste Shatta Wale.

The song by Sarkodie which features Prince Bright of Buk Bak fame has lyrics some fans argue are direct responses to certain statements Shatta Wale made in times past.

But speaking to TV3’s MzGee, Prince explained that the song was birthed following comments some persons have been making him in his absence.

“The song is actually in relation to me. You do good, they’ll bash you; you don’t do good, they’ll bash you,” he said.

Bright mentioned that considering the struggles he’s been through to build a reputable brand, he will never dent it with a diss song. He further indicated that based on how he reveres his late group member, Rooney Coaches, nothing will move him to attack a personality who was loved and appreciated by the deceased.

“Shatta Wale is Ronney’s man and you know how much I love Ronney. Shatta is family. I will look stupid to hurt Shatta Wale for my starters,” he said. “I started this thing out of love so why will I want to break something I created out of love for this past 22 years in the game. I will not use just 5 minutes to mess up everything I’ve worked so hard for.”

Few days ago, Sarkodie admitted that his relationship with Shatta Wale had soiled, but stressed he does not hate him.

“I don’t know what it is but we definitely have to straighten a few things out,” Sarkodie said while discounting claims he was attacking Shatta Wale in ‘Oofeetso’.

My wife showed me ‘pepper’ after my post on polygamy– John Dumelo

Ghanaian actor cum politician, John Dumelo, has finally explained why he pulled down his post on the need for the legalization of Polyandrous and Polygamous marriages in Ghana.

Speaking on the special Farmer’s day edition of Joy FM’s Metropolitan Mix hosted by Mamavi Owusu Aboagye, he stated that the plan was to pull down the post after a few minutes before he even posted it.

John Dumelo explained that his post was meant to be a question but he finished posting it before realizing it was a statement hence the need to pull it down immediately.

When asked if his wife’s comments on the post influenced his decision to delete the post, John responded saying; ” Before I shared the post, I showed it to my wife and told her I was going to post it. She was aware of it but as expected, she “dealt” with me later on at home. She showed me her typical “Ayigbe” woman side”. John Dumelo also made reference to his previous post about the decriminalization of the use of marijuana and others to back his case.
